Warning Signals

Warning signals reveal themselves in various ways.  For health it can be pain, stiffness, anxiety, depression, headaches and the list goes on.  Warning signals are there to help us navigate issues we need to address.  I have had a multitude of signals make themselves known throughout my life and more recently I am able to single them out better as I make it an intentional priority throughout my daily life.

Acne Was A Friend Not Foe

However, from 2000-2008 acne was one of the major physical warning signals.   I had been battling acne with incomplete information.  I had taken antibiotics for over 6 years and my body was no longer responding to them.  I had enough and was ready to do my own research.  I asked my well-qualified dermatologist for the core issue and how we could go about addressing that.  His genuine answers were simply; don't let my hair touch my face, wash my pillowcases and take stronger antibiotics along with topical creams.  This was the day I took it upon myself to study the body, health and 'alternative' answers.  And that was the day I began to empower myself. 

As a teenager I had a pretty healthy set of skin cells.  As the years went by compounded with antibiotic use, and poor food choices (Standard American Diet (S.A.D.),  my skin began to collect blemishes.   

In 2008 as I washed my face could feel large and small bumps all throughout the 3 layers of my skin.  My skin was always oily with layers of dry skin and soreness.  That year patches of dry skin were showing up all over my body, my kidneys always hurt, headaches, migraines and depression were common, severe PMS was expected, and dark brown raised bumps as well as a couple small liver spots were showing up across my body.

My Ah-Ha Moment

The blemishes were simply warning signals to a deeper issue.   I had no prior knowledge of the beautiful balance of acidity and alkalinity had on the overall well being and function of our systems.  Acne was a 'warning signal' yelling to me, 'Hey Melissa!  Your body is too acidic!  Send in some alkaline ammunition!"   For example: A car usually turns on a signal light when you need to address an oil change or a flat tire, etc.  Imagine a trained mechanic just goes under the hood and clips the signal light so you no longer see the warning sign.  The antibiotics prescribed were like someone going under the hood and clipping the wire that lights up the signal!!!  What happens when you keep fueling up the tank with low grade fuel AND not changing the oil?   The weakest area of the car brakes down and eventually the one issue multiples into other issues until at last the whole car brakes down.  And for the body it can start with something that seems normal like headaches, then maybe inflammation, next a tumor, later cancer and eventually death.  You can cut the cancer out, but you still have not dealt with the consistent bad choices you make for yourself that may be feeding your disease.   Ever wonder why cancer seems to always come back even after being 'removed'?

I had years of damage to repair,  I had to relearn nutrition, create provisions, do a lot of mental, emotional, physical, spiritual healing and self-control to implement.

How do you know if your acidic?

Consider the health problems caused by mild acidosis (poor pH balance):

  • Inflamed sensitive gums, cavities

  • Immune deficiency

  • Sciatica, lumbago, stiff neck

  • Respiratory problems, shortness of breath, coughing

  • Yeast fungal overgrowth

  • Low energy and chronic fatigue

  • Cardiovascular damage, including the constriction of blood vessels and reduction in oxygen

  • Heart problems, arrhythmias, increased heart rate

  • Weight gain, obesity and diabetes

  • Bladder and kidney infections

  • Accelerated free radical damage

  • Premature aging

  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea

  • Osteoporosis, weak brittle bones, hip fractures, bone spurs

  • Headaches, confusion, sleepiness

  • Joint pain, aching muscles and lactic acid buildup

  • Allergies, acne

My Take Away

God has been leading me to solid research and a multitude of others like me sharing their stories online and healing methods with things to implement on a daily basis which brings me to the creation of MLove Life.  It's about choosing life in mind, body and spirit and doing it over and over until choosing death isn't an option.  

They say you are your best doctor because you know your body better than anyone else.  I always thought that was a pretty big statement to make without having a degree behind your name.  But I totally get it now.  Today, after much reflection and eating consciously, I am able to determine how food and media effects my general well being.  My husband is becoming more aware too. The years have revealed my tendencies and I am able to intercept oncoming break downs with green juices, detox, prayers, repentance, God's strength, hope and one on one with my husband.

Now I look at it like this: A symptom is a blessing letting you know you have a deficiency and/or a toxic overload.    Oh how the spiritual parallels run deep here folks!

Preventative Measures

“The food you eat can be either be the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.”-Ann Wigmore

If I could go back in time and use the information I know now, I would tell myself 'Before you take ANY antibiotics (anti-life) try the following consistently:

  • Try no to eat before 11am daily.

  • Drink 2 liters of water in the morning 

  • Consume fiber and probiotics daily.

  • Fresh green juice for minerals, nutrients, enzymes.

  • Bask in the sun for vitamin D and fight against depression 

  • Drink 2 liters of water in the afternoon

  • detox with water and coffee enemas

  • Steer clear of grains

  • Reduce caffeine and refined sugar intake at your own pace but consistently.

  • Reduce dairy and meat consumption, eating only grass-fed/free range, non-gmo organic meats.

  • Make your own food more often to steer clear of processed and packaged foods.

  • Drink 2 liters of water in the evening

  • Try not to eat past 7pm daily.

When we completely hand over our health to mankind (doctors, dermatologists) we allow them to become the 'lord' over our bodies.  We forfeit a huge gift!  We have a responsibility to be the stewards of our bodies.  This article I read several years back really opened my eyes to some things and perhaps it will for you. What the Bible says about Medicine.
